Pădurea norvegiană

This idyllic existence is shattered by the unexpected suicide of Kizuki on his 17th birthday. I do not understand the fuss, it is romantic, slow, predictable and not in any way enjoyable or original. And I think I stand by that after some thinking. I loved each and every character. I tried hard not to let spoilers show, but man has Murakami got the talent to keep churning interesting words. The sex in the book doesn’t appear obscene at all. All rather special characters in their own right, nrvegiana with very little relatable qualities for me, at any rate.

Loved his writing to the core. Who else was there?

The two relationships work so well that I think as a reader you begin to feel a lot like Toru does: In Naoko’s continued absence from his life, he makes friends with the bright, sassy, sexually liberated Midori Kobayashi, who has had her fair share of tragedies too but still manages to be optimistic. They aren’t just characters. Twists are what make art great.

The book fell that always close Clenched Soul We have lost even this twilight. It affords norrvegiana one more look through the good ol’ retroscope. But then to quote from the book: Murakami’s obsession with western classics and music is reflected in the countless references to Beatles numbers like “Yesterday”, “Michelle”, “Something”, Bach, Mozart, Scarlatti and literary works of Joseph Conrad, Fitzgerald, Thomas Mann, Karl Marx and so on.

One quote from this boy illustrates best his attitude.

The dialogues, which padurez plenty and are very evocative, are bound to make the parurea lose themselves in the character’s flawed voices, thoughts and opinions that are penned in a way that the readers, especially the ones going through such a phase could easily relate with it. My words are just fillers. The worst thing about this book’s popularity is that it may be some readers’ introduction to Murakami, which would very likely lead them to form a negative opinion of him and not care to explore his other works, which is just awful.

Anyone who has read a Murakami will know the importance of haruki murakami padurea padure in his storytelling. This book is passionate. Inexplicably, the students end their strike and act as if nothing had happened, which enrages Watanabe as a sign of hypocrisy.

This story is more about lived experiences, where his other novels have tones of supernatural and incorporated mind games. Harukii often do we truly resolve our daemons and feel satisfied with how things went? Toru Watanabe, the main character, is a self-pitying man looking back on his days at university in Tokyo during the student riots in when he supposedly “fell in love”.

It is the sort of book that carries you away into the lives of the characters and should carry on as long as they continue to live. Murakami’s words make me feel just like Nicole Kidman in that scene in Moulin Rouge where she is rolling around on that fur rug in her negligee, moaning and writhing in pleasure and saying ‘Yes!

From hereon, the story is told as a flashback, as a sliver of memory that the year old Toru has carefully preserved or perhaps is struggling not to forget. He does not want to hurt Naoko, but he does not want to lose Midori either. Jul 11, Yulia rated it it was ok Shelves: This is a relatively early novel by this author, Girls who shouted when they were angry.

Works by Haruki Murakami. But the tone of the book is not angry or bitter. You can find it on SoundCloud here: View all 6 comments.

But stuff was happening before they met. How could such a thing have happened? Feb 22, Ian “Marvin” Graye rated it it was amazing Shelves: Want to Read saving…. Magari ti becchi pure il cesso otturato e la puzza di fumo, per la cronaca.

He tries his best to help Naoko get better while she keeps slipping away. Time itself slogged along in rhythm with my faltering steps. View all 13 comments. I loved all the characters. Some complain that it is atypical, too conventional and lacking the daring, the weirdness and the depth of other works by him. View all 46 comments. It was a relief. It also had that reflective quality I like.

I want in placed directly in my brain, my very Bloodstream! Oh, what do I know, it IS a romance book. The story is set in This Story is on one side a story of misadventure and a melancholic exploration of adolescent love and another side a thought-provoking and poignant study of memory, morality and mortality.

Norwegian Wood

I wish I could weave his sentences into a rug to roll around on. At least for a little wile.

No one saw us this evening hand in hand while the blue night dropped on the world.
